Today I begin the long process of examining potential 2016 Presidential candidates. You can find my list of 2016 Presidential Candidates here, which I've saved as a page instead of just a post. You can easily get to the list using the link up near the top. And we begin the process with:

Joe Biden

Biden is a long-time political figure, serving as a US Senator from Delaware from 1973 until 2009, when he was elected the 47th Vice-President of the United States. He has always been identified as a Democrat, and isn't shy about voicing his opinion. His support for massive spending programs, gun control initiatives, the War on Drugs, anti-business policies, drastic "global-warming" taxes, and his apparent belief that nothing lies outside the scope of Federal power, not to mention his support for the massive spying programs that collect information about Americans not suspected of a crime, all lead me to conclude that I would not vote for Joe Biden for President.

Rating: NO WAY!!!

Though Biden and I do disagree on many fundamental issues, he does manage to get it right every now and then. Maybe it's the "stopped clock" syndrome, I don't know, but we do agree on such issues as allowing consenting adults to marry, regardless of gender. Unfortunately, we agree on little else:

Abortion: Biden has voted to spend federal money on abortions, and opposes parental notification laws for pregnant minors obtaining an abortion.

Budget: Biden supported TARP and the so-called "Recovery Act", both of which radically increased spending levels. He continues to support more spending, oppose even minor spending cuts, and advocate higher taxes to "bring down the deficit".

Economy: Biden shares the Democrat delusion that government drives the economy. He thinks that more government regulation is better, and deregulation causes economic downturns.

Civil Rights: Biden supports hate-crime legislation that punishes motives instead of actions, supports minority-centric government employment and contracting strategies, and has voted to make it easier for government to wire-tap cell phones.

Corporations: Biden supports the current punitive levels of corporate taxation, and wants to financially punish companies who relocate to other countries in order to reduce their tax burden.

Drugs: Biden's record is one of a drug warrior. He has voted to increase penalties for victimless drug usage, and has spoken out against any easing of laws to allow for medical usage of marijuana.

Education: Biden fully supports federal efforts at education, including the new "Common Core" standards.

Environment: Biden is a rabid "Warmer", believing that man is causing Earth's temperature to rise, and supports cap-and-trade policies, as well as punitive taxation on fossil fuels.

Gun Control: Biden supports renewing the assault weapons ban, universal background checks, and mandatory trigger locks for every gun sold.

Health Care: Biden is a strong supporter of ObamaCare. He believes that government can manage our health care better than we can ourselves... it's the "we know best" philosophy that permeates all of his positions.

National Security: Biden has defended the NSA from every Snowden revelation of massive data acquisition, be it from emails, cell phone texts/calls, or massive software hacking to invade personal computers directly. In his view, the Constitution doesn't protect our privacy in any way, shape, or form.

I could continue, but I trust I have listed enough reasons why I cannot support Joe Biden for President of the United States. Under a Biden Presidency, individual freedom would wither, the scope and power of government would grow, our national debt would continue to skyrocket, and more Americans would be treated like terrorists for the unforgivable crimes of owning guns and speaking their minds on unpopular subjects.

Conclusion: I would never vote for Joe Biden for President of the United States.
